You sit in the extravagant library listening to the clacking of the typewriter and reading a book on native wildlife. There are so many creatures you never knew existed! For instance, to the north lives a thousand pound snake that is absolutely covered in fluffy white fur. The book tells you that it's covered in the white fur because there's so much snow in the northlands. It warns not to let the friendly appearance of the snake fool you, because this snake could eat a man (or woman) whole and that beneath all that fluff is solid muscle. Not for the first time you wonder what kind of place you've wound up in. Surely they didn't have giant fluffy snakes on earth. 

Your host, Luka, has requested that you do not bother him so that he can get more work done. So your questions have to wait until a time when Luka isn't busy with the novels he may or may not ever finish. That's fine, you think, because it is rather comfortable here. But it soon becomes not fine because you feel something touching you leg. No, not just touching it but crawling up your leg. You break out into goosebumps and your heart skips a beat as the creature crawls up your leg. Do you dare to look?

The decision is made for you when a tiny brown head pops up over the edge of your book. The creature looks up curiously at you. It's no bigger than the palm of your hand and has two cute antenna atop its tiny head. 

Your heart stops briefly with the shock. When it kicks up again, it's beating dreadfully fast. You watch warily, waiting for something terrible to happen. Perhaps you should warn Luka that there is a...lizard-like thing in his library. 

The small brown creature crawls up over the book and perches on the top. It has a white underbelly and a scattering of white and dark brown spots along it's body. It blinks black eyes at you before looking down at the page. You could swear that the creature is almost reading but that's impossible. Right? After all, you did arrive here by mistake and that should have been impossible. Before you can ponder it more, the creature slides down the pages of the book and plops right into your lap. 

You desperately try to get Luka's attention without provoking the creature. 

"Hm?" Luka looks up from his writing. His face breaks out into a wide smile. "Oh, that's just my assistant, Fawnling. He does enjoy reading and though he is rather nosy about it, he means no harm." Luka, apparently going to be of no further help, turns back to his work. 

You're left with Fawnling, who has curled up in your lap and is very clearly reading the page. Should you leave him there? He is awfully cute even though he did startle you and he is nosy. Yes, surely there can be no harm in letting him stay to read. After all, Luka has allowed you to stay and read.
